Introduction

What will you be doing
As a System Designer, you will specify and design multidisciplinary functions used worldwide in our logistics systems. Your design will be implemented by a team of specialists you closely cooperate with. You will partner with platform, product architects, and system integration teams, and be responsible for the final release of your multidisciplinary module and its functions.
Responsibilities
* Designing multidisciplinary functions for modules, from initial requirements set by the Product Architect to delivery of tested functions to the integrator.
* Collaborating with specialists in Mechanical, Electronics, Electro-Mechanics, PLC, and Software to design functions that fit Vanderlande’s standards or define requirements for missing components.
* Managing requirements by writing specifications, design documents, test plans, and reports using Vanderlande tooling (e.g., Polarion, Enterprise Architect, Jira).
* Applying Model-Based Design techniques for complex parcel movement and flow control, defining requirements, and making conceptual design choices.
* Utilizing system design methodologies like PSDM, 8D, DFMEA, Model-Based Design, Design for Six Sigma, Numerical Calculations, etc.
What do we ask from you?
You should have a pragmatic, result-driven attitude, be eager to learn, and curious about new technologies.
* A relevant master’s degree in a technical area such as Mechanical Engineering (System & Control, Dynamics & Control), Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* 3-5 years of relevant experience in designing and engineering multidisciplinary industrial systems.
* Ability to maintain overview and operate at various abstraction levels.
* Experience with Robotics and AI technology is a plus.
* Experience with product development cycles in relevant domains.
* Strong stakeholder communication skills to persuade and obtain agreements.
* System thinker capable of seeing the big picture and delving into details.
* Comfortable with uncertainty and unknowns.
* Model-based design experience using Matlab/Simulink is a plus.
* Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
