The Team :
The position is a senior member of the team responsible for maximizing the value of the volumes available for trading in LNG markets by identifying opportunities, developing positions, managing risk, and ensuring effective coordination of all parties involved in executing financial trades.
The Role :
The position requires a strong financial background and deep knowledge and understanding of the global gas and LNG markets, including operational, technical, financial aspects, and risk mitigation tools.
This involves an appreciation of the macroeconomic fundamentals of global gas markets, intelligence on the activities of producers and consumers of natural gas, understanding the financing of gas trading, and structuring LNG sales/purchase contracts.
Responsibilities :
* Identify business opportunities and generate viable leads by maintaining an effective network of industry contacts and analyzing gas market fundamentals.
* Develop and manage tools and data for pricing deals to ensure profitability and optimize risk in volatile markets; track performance and report on their implementation.
* Manage and execute trades in financial markets to maintain portfolio balance, limit risk, and manage liquidity.
* Identify and execute trading strategies to monetize portfolio optionality.
* Coordinate with legal, risk, and financial experts to analyze and develop business proposals that maximize value and mitigate risks.
* Negotiate agreements with financial institutions, exchanges, and derivatives brokers to provide market access; support the finance team in obtaining favorable credit terms.
* Mentor and lead junior traders to uphold quality standards and support their professional development.
* Coordinate with the MO team to calibrate and refine models.
Specific Skills and Knowledge :
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Economics, Business, Engineering).
* 5-10 years of experience in LNG or commodities financial trading.
* Excellent understanding of the LNG market, including physical and derivative trading concepts.
* Highly numerate with the ability to conduct complex economic and financial modeling.
* Proven decision-making skills based on creative thinking and effective data analysis.
* Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to build fruitful relationships with third parties.
