Overview
As a Sustainability Director, you will help Six Senses reconnect guests with the world, champion local sensitivity and global sensibility, and create exceptional, responsible experiences. You will safeguard pillars of sustainability, wellness, and out‑of‑the‑ordinary experiences, planning and implementing the resort’s environmental strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Work strategically with the General Manager to develop cohesive goals for the department.
* Collaborate with the Executive team and operations to maintain brand quality and consistency.
* Manage the Sustainability Fund on a monthly basis, ensuring transparent allocation of resources.
* Develop and maintain relationships with local community organisations, schools, and governmental bodies.
* Lead monthly sustainability host events that educate and inspire guests and staff.
* Connect the resort to global sustainability initiatives such as Earth Day, World Oceans Day, and Global Shoreline Clean‑Up.
* Manage existing partnerships and identify new collaborations aligned with Six Senses mission.
* Partner with the Experiences team to design and lead sustainability‑related guest experiences.
* Stay abreast of industry trends and implement innovative sustainability practices.
* Maintain high personal and team standards of presentation, grooming and hygiene.
* Act as the central point of contact for sustainability initiatives, encouraging creative ideas.
* Provide timely, accurate reporting to Home Office Sustainability, including performance indicators and audit results.
* Take corrective action when sustainability or quality issues are identified.
* Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to share sustainability achievements in media and internal communication.
* Assist the General Manager and Finance Director with CAPEX budgeting and monitor fund spending to quantify impact.
* Ensure all activities are ethical, honest and compliant with local law.
* Lead, train and inspire hosts to uphold sustainability standards and embody the resort’s purpose.
* Support managers, department heads and the General Manager in achieving sustainability goals.
* Perform additional duties as assigned and attend mandatory meetings.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability or a related field.
* Minimum four years’ experience in a sustainability‑related hospitality role with measurable impact.
* Advanced MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Familiarity with hotel systems such as POS and Opera PMS and solid property knowledge.
* Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
* Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
* Passion for Six Senses values: local sensitivity, wellness, emotional hospitality, responsibility, fun, and sustainability.
* Valid Spanish work permit or EU citizenship required.
