SSCertified Trained Phlebotomist or COVID Sample Collector
A Phlebotomist is responsible for providing efficient and friendly customer service while collecting blood samples. Phlebotomists must also be knowledgeable in basic laboratory and safety protocols.
Expected Duties:
Below is a quick list of the job duties that you should expect when working as a phlebotomy technician:
* Be able to explain blood draw procedures to patients and answer any questions about the process.
* Collect blood samples from patients (venipuncture).
* Practice proper patient identification.
* Label vials with patient names and dates.
* Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.
* Process any and all samples.
* Expect to work with a large number of patients varying in age and health status.
* Be friendly, courteous, and sympathetic when working with patients.
* Keep your phlebotomy cart or station well-organized at all times.
* Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment.
* Perform CLIA waived tests accurately and efficiently.
* Perform ECG analysis.
* Help nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draw.
Skills and Qualifications:
* A valid in-date Phlebotomy certification (AMT, ASCP) (optional).
* Ability to successfully draw blood from patients with minimal or no complications.
* Empathy and interpersonal skills for working with patients.
* Detail-oriented and committed to ensuring patient confidentiality.
* Excellent motor skills and the ability to stand for long periods of time.
* Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
* Data entry and computer skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to walk 2 flights of stairs throughout the day.
