Job Summary:
South Pole is seeking a Technical Lead to strengthen its team in Europe, playing a key role in international consultancy assignments, proposals, commercial activities, and multistakeholder initiatives.
As a global sustainability solutions provider, South Pole collaborates with clients in both public and private sectors to develop solutions for a sustainable society and economy.
The Policy and Strategy team handles consultancy assignments for clients, providing policy and technology insights as well as market intelligence to various business line teams.
Your role as Technical Lead, Engineered Carbon Solutions, will be to help deliver and refine South Pole’s offerings by providing technical advice on engineered carbon removal and reduction projects.
You will coordinate with relevant teams within South Pole and external institutions to support carbon removal and technical advisory mandates, offering technical opinions on internal project assessments for due diligence purposes.
You will be a core member of the Engineered Carbon Solutions team, assessing the viability of engineered carbon reduction and removal projects, supporting project management, and evaluating prospective projects for South Pole or NextGen operations.
Specifically, you will evaluate the technical feasibility of each project, identify potential risks that could undermine performance, assess the robustness of quantification methodologies, and ensure alignment with existing carbon standards and methodologies.
You will collaborate with South Pole Carbon Standard and Methodology experts to develop quantification approaches that comply with carbon crediting standards.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess broad engineering knowledge, particularly regarding technologies and solutions used to capture and permanently store CO2 from sources such as biochar, bioenergy with capture and storage, direct air capture, enhanced weathering, and permanent CO2 mineralization in durable products.
