What will be your role?
The Materials Engineer provides technical expertise in the evaluation, selection, development, and validation of materials used in RFID sensor products and related manufacturing processes. This engineer will be a key contributor to the development of sensors, testing activities, and end-use applications, supporting solutions intended for both textile and food environments.
The role supports the creation of advanced material solutions that meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost objectives, while working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and external partners.
What will your responsibilities be?
·Conduct research, technical analysis, and characterization of materials used in RFID antenna structures, substrates, adhesives, encapsulants, coatings, and conductive systems.
·Develop, evaluate, and optimize material formulations and selection criteria to improve performance, durability, manufacturability, and application fit in RFID sensor solutions.
·Perform laboratory testing to assess mechanical, thermal, electrical, chemical, and environmental properties of candidate materials using structured methods and documented procedures.
·Support the integration of materials into RFID sensor designs, ensuring compatibility with product architecture, technical specifications, and functional requirements.
·Contribute to sensor-development activities for applications across textile and food-related use cases, helping define suitable material combinations for traceability, monitoring, and real-world deployment conditions.
·Provide materials-related guidance during product development, pilot builds, validation phases, and manufacturing scale-up, supporting engineering decision-making with data-driven recommendations.
·Prepare technical reports, material specifications, qualification summaries, and supporting documentation for internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
·Identify and resolve materials-related issues affecting product performance, reliability, quality, or manufacturability, and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions when needed.
·Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate new materials, qualify production materials, review technical data, and resolve supply-chain or material-compliance concerns.
·Ensure all material-evaluation and test activities adhere to industry standards, internal procedures, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory expectations.
What profile do we need?
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in materials development, characterization, qualification, or material integration within engineering or product-development environments.
Strong understanding of polymeric materials, adhesives, coatings, conductive materials, thin films, flexible substrates, or other engineered materials relevant to RFID sensor development.
Experience designing and executing structured experiments, analyzing technical data, and translating findings into actionable material recommendations.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a disciplined approach to documentation, traceability, and follow-up actions.
English proficiency required.
