The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company in Spain, ensuring compliance with local regulations, managing reporting processes, and supporting strategic decision‑making. This role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity and optimizing business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with Spanish GAAP (PGC) and, where applicable, IFRS
- Manage general ledger, reconciliations, and closing processes
- Monitor internal controls and implement improvements
Compliance & Taxation
- Ensure compliance with Spanish tax regulations (VAT, Corporate Tax, SII reporting, etc.)
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
- Oversee statutory filings and regulatory requirements
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
- Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights
- Support business units with financial planning
Cash Flow & Treasury
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital
- Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions
- Optimize treasury processes
Business Partnering
- Provide financial insights to senior management
- Support strategic decisions with data‑driven analysis
- Collaborate with operations, sales, and HR teams
Requirements
Education & Qualifications
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or Spanish equivalent) is a plus
Experience
- 5–10+ years of experience in finance / accounting roles
- Previous experience as Financial Controller or Senior Accountant
- Experience in multinational environments is highly valued
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Spanish accounting standards (PGC) and tax regulations
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Navision, etc.)
- Advanced Excel skills
Languages
- Fluent in Spanish
- Professional level of English (minimum C1)
