Job Description
We are seeking skilled Functional Safety engineers to join our dynamic team located in San Sebastián.
Joining the AVL SW Team, you will be able to expand your career with international experience and work on state-of-the-art automotive applications.
* Support the development of safe critical electronic control functions (e-powertrain, chassis, power electronics, HV-Battery, ADAS, etc.) under the aspect of functional safety according to ISO26262.
* After initial training, independently coordinate customer requirements, realize and support concept implementation, and assist up to the start of production.
* Support the optimization and review of functional models using a model-based development approach, considering testing and validation strategies.
* Plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the functional safety process.
* Document functional safety work products.
* Handle risk assessments, create concepts, and perform safety analyses (e.g., HARA, FMEA, FTA) according to standards.
* Represent functional safety and cybersecurity within AVL and towards customers.
* Support the development of new technologies.
Necessary Profile
* Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, vehicle technology, physics, computer science, or similar.
* Enthusiasm for mobility development, technical innovation, and interest in functional safety, automotive cybersecurity, and automated driving technologies.
* Basic experience in control engineering and model-based development (Matlab/Simulink, SysML, or similar).
* Familiarity with automotive development processes and Functional Safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, etc.).
* Flexible, proactive, structured, and detail-oriented working style.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Proficient in English and Spanish; German is a plus.
