We are partnered with a world class IT Consultancy based in Spain and working with clients on a global scale offering MSP services. They are currently recruiting for a Head of Infrastructure who can come in simplify teams, use multiple technologies to improve efficiencies and help reshape the department quickly.
You’ll be managing a global Infrastructure department of circa 50 people across a hybrid on-prem first solution. This isn’t a role to just move everything into the cloud, You’ll come in and quickly gain an understanding of the infrastructure, the team, their ability and the issues. You’ll then put plans in place to upskill team members, improve technical knowledge, implement automation and help take the department to the next level.
You’ll work at senior level managing relationships with the big stakeholders but you’ll remain close enough to the operations to absorb what is going on from the Engineers and translate technical details in layman’s terms for senior management.
The Scope of the role spans Infrastructure, Application Support, Monitoring, Networking and Databases and tech stack that you will be overseeing will include:
* Microsoft and Windows Operating Systems
* Databases and data platforms including SQL and PostgreSQL
* Virtualization such as VMWare
* Networking core principles aligned to Cisco and Palo Alto
* Patch and Vulnerability Management
* Azure
* Automation and configuration Management tools
This isn’t about being a technical expert and certified in specific tools but is about understanding the frameworks of the technologies and using that knowledge to help the department make strides forward.
The successful Head of Infrastructure will have…
* Previous experience in a similar Infrastructure leadership role
* Proven experience managing large global and complex teams
* A track record of improving department performance, upskilling team members and implementing automation
* Strong technical knowledge in the areas listed above
* Extensive ITIL knowledge and use to working to ITIL v4 standards on a global scale, preferably with v4 Qualifications
