Technical Product Owner – Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) As the Technical Product Owner for the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team, you will be responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering reliability-focused initiatives that ensure the scalability, availability, and performance of our platforms and services. You will work closely with SREs, engineering teams, and stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into actionable work, championing best practices in reliability, automation, and operational excellence. You will also provide project leadership supporting reliability service delivery, including management of key initiatives needed to scale and enhance our practices, and delivery oversight for SRE scrum teams.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and prioritize developer pain points using qualitative and quantitative signals with the focus on impact.
Translate platform / SRE needs into clear product requirements and priorities.
Define and track success metrics such as developer productivity, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Run discovery through developer interviews, Dev Experience surveys, support interruptions, incident reviews, and platform metrics (e.g., DORA, CI/CD reliability).
Lead migrations and deprecations with empathy, clarity, and consistency.
Oversee delivery of SRE key initiatives, managing project timelines, risks, communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
Work with SREs and engineers to ensure timely delivery of initiatives, removing blockers and facilitating agile ceremonies (standups, planning, retrospectives).
Required Skills & Experience
2 - 4 years working as Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or similar role in Platform environments.
Proven experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or similar role in a software engineering environment.
Strong understanding of SRE principles, DevOps practices, and cloud infrastructure.
Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, incident management, and automation tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, PagerDuty, Terraform, etc.).
Deep understanding of product management methodologies, especially SCRUM.
Experience working with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
Technical background (e.g., former engineer, SRE, or similar) is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
Knowledge of reliability engineering concepts such as SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) or agile methodologies.
Scrum Certification (Product Owner, Scrum Master, etc.).
Project management experience a plus.
