Your role
We are seeking a technically proficient, knowledgeable, dynamic, flexible, detail‑oriented high performer and team player to join our Services Team as a Field Service Superintendent Engineer. In this role you will be part of a highly skilled team of Field Services professionals, capable of working independently and making decisions under pressure, with strong expertise in 2‑stroke engines. Ideally based in Andalucía, South of Spain and surrounding areas, with other locations in Spain considered.
Your responsibilities
* Execute mechanical jobs on vessels with Wärtsilä/Sulzer/WinGD 2‑stroke engines.
* Occasionally perform supervisory or troubleshooting activities with support from Technical Service teams.
* Install Wärtsilä Service Products (modernization, retrofit packages) for 2‑stroke diesel engines.
* Conduct mechanical, electrical, and automation‑related work on engines and installations.
* Perform technical assessments, pre‑inspections, and final commissioning of installed products per Wärtsilä guidelines.
* Lead on‑site jobs, manage service activities, and collaborate with teammates and stakeholders (yards, crews).
* Ensure customer satisfaction through positive interactions and efficient collaboration during service work.
* Communicate actively with Field Service and Technical Service back‑office during work execution.
* Provide internal and external reports on work progress, updates, and daily reports as per Wärtsilä standards.
* Prepare final Service Work reports, time and expense reports in accordance with Wärtsilä policy.
* Consult, advise, and promote Wärtsilä solutions and products to customers proactively.
Qualifications and requirements
* B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering or a related technical field is highly appreciated.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in service work on mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary equipment installations, particularly 2‑stroke Sulzer/Wärtsilä/WinGD engines.
* Experience with Wärtsilä products is a plus.
* In‑depth understanding of 2‑stroke engine operation principles.
* Proficient in interpreting technical instructions, drawings, and schematic diagrams (e.g., pneumatic, electrical systems).
* Expert in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting tasks on engines, auxiliary systems, and service products.
* Strong reporting skills and ability to generate comprehensive reports.
* Proficient in MS Office and other relevant reporting tools.
* Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and verbal.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
* Passionate about learning and eager to enhance knowledge to service Wärtsilä engines and retrofit products for 2‑stroke engines in operation.
Additional information
Travel is required, accounting for approximately 80% of working time (up to 200 days per year). The role offers an international environment with opportunities across Europe and globally.
