Position Overview
At Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, the F&B Operations Manager ensures the highest level of luxury service across all Food & Beverage outlets, fully aligned with Mandarin Oriental's legendary quality standards. This role provides operational leadership, ensures flawless guest experiences, and supports financial performance, while promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continual improvement.
Key Responsibilities – Operations
* Ensure all F&B outlets operate according to Mandarin Oriental service standards.
* Maintain strong presence during service to support colleagues and engage with guests.
* Oversee restaurant, bar, in-room dining, banqueting, and minibar operations.
* Ensure compliance with hygiene, HACCP, and safety regulations.
* Coordinate interdepartmental communication with Culinary, Rooms, Engineering, and Finance.
Team Leadership & Development
* Lead and inspire a multicultural F&B team.
* Conduct performance reviews and ensure development plans are in place.
* Monitor staffing levels based on business needs and forecasts.
* Ensure colleagues embrace the Mandarin Oriental culture and values.
Financial Responsibilities
* Monitor financial KPIs including revenue, cost of sales, labour cost, and profitability.
* Support annual budget preparation and monthly forecasting.
* Implement cost control strategies without compromising service quality.
* Oversee purchasing, inventory, and waste management.
Guest Experience
* Ensure guest expectations are exceeded across all outlets.
* Manage complex guest complaints and ensure appropriate recovery actions.
* Conduct regular quality audits and service observations.
* Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Sommelier to refine menus and beverage offerings.
Outlet-Specific Oversight
Restaurant: Ensure flawless service execution and effective table management.
Bar: Guarantee beverage quality and cocktail preparation standards.
In-Room Dining: Oversee tray setup, delivery times, and minibar procedures.
Banqueting & Events: Coordinate event execution in alignment with BEOs and client expectations.
Requirements
* Minimum 3–5 years of management experience in luxury F&B operations.
* Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Experience in a five-star or luxury hospitality environment.
* Financial acumen and ability to interpret operational reports.
* Fluency in English and Spanish; Catalan and additional languages are a plus.
