Context and Mission
The Barcelona Zettascala Lab aims to position Europe as a leader in high-performance computing by innovating advanced chip design and fostering a robust hardware and software ecosystem. Supported by the NextGenerationEU program, the lab seeks to enable scientific, industrial, and societal advances through technological solutions. The research group is seeking a motivated engineer to accelerate applications using novel HPC architectures, collaborating with a dynamic team on scientific research.
Key Duties
* Research on acceleration of HPC and AI workloads using software and hardware optimization techniques.
* Implement benchmarks and datasets to evaluate LLMs accuracy for hardware design.
* Write scientific papers and engage in ongoing research activities.
* Coordinate and attend project meetings, collaborate with MSc/PhD students, and contribute to research deliverables.
RequirementsEducation
* Degree/Master in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
* Publications in recognized conferences or journals are a plus but not required.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
* Strong background in hardware design, computer architecture, and performance analysis.
* Skills in HDL (SystemVerilog, VHDL, Chisel, Bluespec, etc.).
* Expertise in AI algorithms, data structures, C/C++, performance engineering, and Linux.
Additional Knowledge and Experience
* Experience with CUDA or FPGA programming is a plus.
* Experience with R and Matlab is a plus.
* Experience with HPC environments is a plus.
Competences
* Problem-solving, proactive, result-oriented.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills in English.
* Autonomy in research and exploration.
Conditions
* Location: BSC within the Computer Sciences Department.
* Full-time contract, flexible hours, training, health insurance, relocation support.
* Duration: Open-ended.
* Holidays: 23 days + additional days during Christmas.
* Salary: Competitive, based on qualifications and experience.
* Start date: 01/09/2025.
