Senior Business Development Manager

We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to work within Spain and our European growth markets. You will be accountable for leading energy storage sales for cross-functional teams. You will have a leading role to ensure we have predictable profitable sales, and project execution.

You will be reporting to the Area Sales Director. The preferred location is in Spain.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead energy storage sales opportunities from the initial bid to award and contract execution
2. Vet customers and opportunities to ensure efficient resource use
3. Manage and maintain key account relationships
4. Ensure correct pricing strategies and accurate cost estimations
5. Lead stakeholders and project sales team to achieve business unit goals
6. Utilise S&OP data as a basis when assessing the correct cost estimations and schedules
7. Ensure tenders and requirements are understood in detail within the project sales team and high-quality offers are prepared
8. Ensure risks are evaluated and mitigated properly
9. Ensure necessary internal reviews are conducted and approvals received
10. Ensure Wärtsilä contracting policies are followed and proper contract terms are achieved
11. Lead contract negotiations and prepare winning sales negotiation strategies
12. Manage and report the progress of project sales in CRM (Salesforce) accurately
13. Ensure proper sales documentation in closing deals
14. Ensure sales are properly transferred to the project execution team
15. Drive Wärtsilä purpose and demonstrate Wärtsilä values of customer success, passion, and performance

Requirements:

16. 5 years experience in the utility-scale renewable energy industry, with a strong preference toward candidates with prior battery energy storage experience
17. Promote and never sacrifice safety
18. Is a senior sales leader with a strong track record of leading high-performing cross-functional teams
19. Solution orientated
20. Has a strong track record of negotiating complex sales projects
21. Contractual and risk management experience
22. Influencing and communication skills especially when working with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
23. Lead by example and facilitate collaboration across organisations
24. Broad understanding of energy storage business, solutions, and market outlook
25. Has commercial and customer mindset combined with a structural approach
26. Outstanding team player and excellent coaching skills
27. Drive results with planning, change management, and execution skills
28. Inspire people to take actions towards goals
29. Appreciate diversity and ability to build psychological safety and inclusion within the organisation
30. Readiness to travel

31. Successful project sales with end-to-end profitability
32. Sales team engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and customer satisfaction
