A Multiscale and Multiphysics Digital Lung Model for Predicting the Fate of Transported Inhaled Pollutants (R1) – Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS)
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center is seeking a candidate to advance the understanding of pollutant behavior in the respiratory system through the simulation of complex multiphysics and multiscale phenomena, contributing to Alya, a computational mechanics simulation tool used for coupled multi-physics problems.
Responsibilities
* Apply and develop numerical models to simulate Navier-Stokes equations for respiratory flow scenarios.
* Implement and analyze fluid-structure interaction aspects relevant to the airway and lung mechanics.
* Work with particle-based methods (Lagrangian or semi-Lagrangian) to model transport and deposition of pollutants.
* Address mucus layer modelling and related boundary conditions within the multiscale framework.
* Contribute to the development and validation of a virtual population within the simulation environment.
Requirements
* Education: Master in science modelling or science and engineering
* Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience: Programming;
