About the Role
Smart Currency Exchange helps individuals protect the value of their wealth when moving money across borders — whether buying a property in Tuscany, inheriting assets overseas, or relocating internationally. Currency movements can cost clients tens of thousands of pounds on a single transaction. Our job is to make sure they don't.
We're looking for a Sales Manager to lead and grow our Spanish business unit. This is a player-coach role: you'll carry your own book of relationships while building, developing, and holding to account a team of Private Client Sales and Account Managers. You'll set the standard for how we engage high-net-worth individuals and their advisers — with integrity, genuine expertise, and a consultative approach that creates long-term trust.
What You'll Own
* Personal revenue — an active pipeline of private client relationships sourced through your own network, referrals, introducers (IFAs, solicitors, estate agents), and outbound activity
* Team performance — hiring, developing, and managing a team of PCMs against agreed new client and revenue targets, working in close partnership with the Managing Director on commercial strategy
* Pipeline discipline — rigorous weekly pipeline reviews; accurate forecasting with no sandbagging; early escalation of risks
* New partner generation — measurable contribution to net new client acquisition, not just management of inherited relationships
* Standards — you set the cultural bar. Response times, CRM hygiene, client communication quality, and compliance standards flow from the top down
What We're Looking For
Non-Negotiables
A demonstrable track record of success. We will look beyond titles and tenure. We want to see numbers: new clients won, revenue grown, conversion rates improved, and people developed. If you can't speak specifically to what you achieved — not just what you were responsible for — the conversation will be short.
Pipeline self-sufficiency. Can you generate your own leads through your network, professional introducers, and outbound? Or do you need a queue handed to you? We need the former.
Consultative discovery. The best private client conversations feel more like financial therapy than a sales pitch. You uncover the real exposure — the property completion date, the inheritance timeline, the emigration plan — before you talk rates.
Grit and resilience. High-net-worth clients move slowly, change their minds, and go quiet. You maintain energy and engagement over a 6–18 month relationship cycle without needing to be chased. xpzdshu
Accountability. When deals don't close or clients don't convert, you own it and learn from it. You don't blame the rate, the market, or the leads.
Strongly Valued
* Track record of building and developing sales people — not just personal quota performance
* Network of professional introducers (IFAs, solicitors, wealth managers, property agents) that can be activated quickly
* Ability to speak credibly about FX risk, hedging rationale, forward contracts, and rate movements without becoming a technical lecture
* Experience managing a team through a regulated financial services environment
