FIRST. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE OF THE GRANTS
1. The purpose of this resolution is to approve the call for applications for a maximum of twelve (12) pre-doctoral contracts in the 2026 financial year, within the framework of the 2026-2030 R&D&I Support Plan of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
2. Six (6) of the pre-doctoral contracts must be co-financed by R&D&I activities that guarantee a minimum of three years of employment.
3. The purpose of the grants is to enable research staff in training to carry out research tasks within the scope of a specific and innovative project as part of their doctoral thesis.
SECOND. ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
* a) Be enrolled in a Doctoral Programme at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena in the 2025/2026 academic year 2026 academic year or hold a master's degree that gives access to a doctoral programme in the 2025-2026 academic year or have enrolled in the 2025-2026 academic year in an official university master's degree that gives access to a doctoral programme in the 2026-2027 academic year.
* b) Not hold a PhD from any Spanish or foreign university.
THIRD. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE RESEARCH DIRECTOR
Hold a doctoral thesis, meet the EINDOC requirements to supervise a thesis, and have a contractual or civil service relationship with the UPCT for the entire duration of the grant.
For these purposes, being employed under a talent attraction programme with a commitment to stabilisation at the end of the employment contract is considered sufficient.
* Participate in a research activity with sufficient budget availability to co-finance the pre-doctoral contract in the case of opting for the co-financed modality.
* Participate in a research activity with sufficient budgetary availability to co-finance the pre-doctoral contract in the event of opting for the co-financed modality.
