OverviewThe Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing personal medical care and assistance with daily living activities that improve quality of life by allowing patients to remain in their home or facility, while adhering to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times.Essential Job FunctionsBasic first aidTaking weight and vital signsCatheter and bowel care, including I&O; monitoringRange of motion exercises, as assigned by a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Language PathologistAmbulation, transfer and positioning with wheelchairs and other non-life support medical equipment and devicesPrepare meals according to dietary and nutritional needsCare for patient's special conditions and needs within the scope of authorized tasksHelp patient maintain good personal hygiene, including bathing, toileting, grooming, shaving, skin and nail care, oral hygiene, dressing and eatingDocumentation: maintain and complete patient/family and company records and report significant changes in patient's condition to the RN Nursing SupervisorProvide hands-on personal care and perform simple procedures as an extension of therapy or nursing servicesProvide services ordered by the physician in the plan of care and within the aide's scope of practice under state lawRequirementsHigh school graduate or GEDCurrent, unrestricted certification or proof of state-required trainingCurrent CPR certificationDemonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with aide care and policies and proceduresValid Driver's License and acceptable MVRAdditional state-specific requirements: Continuing Education as required by stateSchedule and LocationSchedule: Monday–Friday 7:00am–3:00pmLocation/Setting: Canon *****Age Range: Young AdultAcuity: High, Trach/VentOngoing EducationAn Aide must receive at least 12 hours of in-service training during each 12-month period.
