What will you do?
You will work as a Software Engineer responsible for the maintenance and future specification updates of the Product Generation Function (PGF) for the EUMETSAT Metop-SG mission. Your work will focus on evolving and maintaining state-of-the-art satellite data processing software during the early mission phases to reach operational quality.
Develop, evolve, and maintain data processing algorithms for Metop-SG sensors, integrating scientific updates from EUMETSAT during commissioning and operational phases.
Perform unit testing of the developed software, ensuring proper testing coverage and robustness.
Ensure the integration of processing algorithms within a distributed payload processing framework based on Apache Kafka and Apache Storm.
Work in a GNU/Linux environment to develop, test, and optimize the software.
Coordinate closely with the validation team during validation campaigns to guarantee software quality, performance, and operational readiness.
Contribute to technical documentation and provide support in interactions with customers and stakeholders.
Apply good software development practices and coding standards to ensure maintainability and performance.
What are we looking for?
BSc/MSc degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
3–5 years of professional experience.
Experience with Java development and unit testing, including code optimization and efficient use of memory and CPU resources.
Experience with Maven-based build systems.
Experience working with the GNU/Linux operating system.
Good understanding of distributed systems and parallel processing.
Good understanding of software development best practices and coding standards.
Intermediate level of English (minimum).
Availability to work in a hybrid model in Madrid.
