The Mission of the Senior Electronics/Avionics Engineer
ICEYE is looking for a Senior Electronics/Avionics Engineer experienced in development of unmanned systems to join its aircraft development team.
As a Senior Electronics/Avionics Engineer in the HAPS program you will be responsible for the development, improvement, verification, integration and maintenance of various custom pieces of airborne and ground based electronics-based systems.
The span of electronics development needs in a unmanned aircraft like HAPS is very wide, ranging from very high efficiency solar power controllers, power management, control systems, avionics, radar control systems, radio communication systems, etc.
You will be part of a growing and dedicated team facing an exciting challenge. Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing solutions for a novel UAV system that’s on the edge of being possible from a physics point of view
- Building verification and testing systems and simulators
- Building power, communication and control systems for the platform
- Development and/or improvement of hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) and software-in-the-loop (SITL) simulation systems
- Discover and understanding of airworthiness requirements
- Leading projects across multiple disciplines to get to desired outcomes
- Understanding operational needs and developing solutions to improve operations
- Occasional participation in flight test campaigns and in-flight data analysis
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Development of complex power electronics, communications or control systems - at very high efficiencies
- Experience with high-reliability electronics design for harsh environments
- Experience with PCB design software (, Altium Designer, or equivalent)
- Experience with hands-on integration and testing of electronics
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in developing embedded software and in embedded communication protocols
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Robotics, or similar
- Familiarity with industry standards for electronics design and testing
- Simulation development skills for electronic systems (, SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink)
- Experience with smart systems that are networked as cloud-linked fleets with telemetry
- Passion for solving complex problems in a team environment
- A proactive, can-do attitude and love for aerospace are expected
