Overview
AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) drives revenue, adoption, and growth for small‐ and mid‐market accounts and enterprise‐level customers, including the public sector. AWS Solutions Architects act as trusted advisors, designing scalable, flexible, and resilient solutions for customers' largest business challenges.
Working closely with internal AWS teams, you identify customer boundaries and improve services, while thought leadership and content creation help customers scale and grow using AWS as their foundation.
In this role you push technology boundaries, partner early in customers' cloud journeys, and deliver visible, measurable impact on their growth ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with customers to accelerate business outcomes and recommend best‐practice cloud architectures aligned with long‐term goals.
Drive technical solution discussions, solving complex problems and developing scalable, resilient architectures.
Scope and own customer engagements with clear objectives and success criteria.
Work backwards from business needs to accelerate adoption of suitable AWS technologies.
Define and execute strategy by engaging technical teams, professional services, and partner ecosystems.
Act as a thought leader—educate, share best practices, present at events, write white papers, blogs, and run workshops.
Advocate customers' voices to influence AWS platform roadmaps and benefit from organizational input into platform evolution.
Serve as a key technical member of the Solutions Architecture team, ensuring customer success in building applications aligned with long‐term business goals.
A Day in the Life
Senior Solutions Architects are experienced technologists who advise customers across SMB industries such as FSI, retail, IT & ITES, media, and entertainment. They collaborate with account management, professional services, support, product teams, and the AWS partner ecosystem to recommend best practices around security, cost, performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
8+ years of specific technology domain experience (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)
4+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructure
10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience
Experience working with software developers
Experience building complex software systems delivered to customers, or in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics, or natural language processing
