The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum and participates in European HPC initiatives. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies to facilitate scientific progress.
Context And Mission The Earth Sciences Department of Barcelona Supercomputing Center comprises about 200 people, organized into research groups. The successful applicant will join the Data and Diagnostics Team within the Computational Earth Sciences group to provide user support for data requests and to manage centralized data download and formatting for the department archive, following international standards (GRIB, NetCDF, etc.).

Requirements Education
Bachelor in Computer Science, Physics engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related discipline
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Experience with UNIX/LINUX environments and scripting languages (bash);
Basic knowledge of Python
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Knowledge of climate data formats (GRIB, NetCDF) and tools (CDO, NCO, xarray) is valued but not mandatory
Competences
This is a user-oriented position, so good communication skills are required. The role requires demonstrated learning capacity and motivation to maintain a learning progression. The department is international and interdisciplinary;
fluency in English (written and verbal) is required. The candidate should be able to coordinate with other institutions and meet schedules, and disseminate advances in international workshops.
Conditions The position is located at BSC within the Earth Sciences Department

Development of the recruitment process The selection uses a competitive examination system (Concurso-Oposición) with Curriculum Analysis (40 points) and an Interview phase (60 points). A minimum of 30 points in the interview is required to be eligible. The panel includes diverse representation and at least one technical and one administrative interview, plus a personality questionnaire and a technical exercise where applicable.
