The CML Advocates Network (CMLAN) is an active international network for leaders of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) patient groups. It connects 131 patient organisations across the globe in 96 countries and aims at facilitating and supporting best practice sharing among patient advocates worldwide. The network is hosted under the Leukemia Patient Advocates Foundation (LePAF), a patient-led non-profit foundation based in Switzerland, serving as a legal platform for self-sustained patient advocacy initiatives. The network is governed by a Steering Committee comprising six CML patient advocates representing major regions of the world and the three co-founders of the network.
The CML Advocates Network is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This role offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated, strategic, and visionary individual to serve the global CML community and support those affected by this rare, chronic condition.
Role and Responsibilities
The CEO will be the management leader of CMLAN, reporting directly to the network chair and indirectly to the Steering Committee. Responsibilities include:
* Governance: Leading the network, supporting its mission, and implementing its vision, strategy, and priorities. Communicating effectively with the Steering Committee and ensuring good governance.
* Financial Management: Ensuring fiscal integrity, managing budgets, preparing financial statements, and developing annual reports. Overseeing fundraising and ensuring financial sustainability.
* Strategy and Operations: Developing and executing strategic plans, managing key initiatives and projects, evaluating impact, and maintaining relevance through KPIs.
* Network Operations & HR: Managing daily operations, overseeing staff, organizing meetings, and analyzing environmental changes for opportunities.
* Network Communications: Enhancing public image, representing the organization, managing communication activities, and developing partnerships.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Candidates should have experience in executive leadership within non-profit organizations, strong skills in negotiation, project management, and public speaking, and a proven track record in personnel management, funding proposals, and patient advocacy. Proficiency with essential tools and familiarity with legal, lobbying, and medical conference speaking are also required. Experience with website management, patient-related content, and specific software is preferred.
Conditions
Location preferably in an EU Member State, willingness to travel (~30 days/year), and flexibility to work outside standard hours are required. The position offers a dynamic international environment, full-time permanent employment with competitive NGO salary, and an initial 6-month probation period.
