Location: Madrid (Hybrid – 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home)
We are working with a high-growth international fintech organisation that supports businesses operating across global markets. As the company continues to scale its international footprint, they are looking to hire a Payroll Specialist to join their Madrid team.
This role sits at the centre of the employee operations function, ensuring that payroll for a growing global workforce is processed accurately, compliantly, and on time across multiple countries.
You’ll be part of a small, collaborative payroll team responsible for delivering efficient payroll operations while working closely with HR, Finance, and external payroll providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-monthly and monthly payrolls end-to-end across multiple countries as part of a small payroll team.
- Analyse and document country-specific payroll processes and control frameworks.
- Support ad-hoc payroll and process improvement projects.
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders such as Finance and HR, as well as external payroll providers, to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Ensure payroll processes remain compliant with local statutory regulations and internal policies.
- Perform reconciliations and audit checks for monthly payroll cycles.
- Keep up to date with local payroll legislation and regulatory changes.
- Support the Finance team during month-end close and reporting activities.
- Continuously review payroll processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reliability.
- Handle escalated or critical payroll issues promptly and effectively.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of payroll experience, ideally across multiple countries.
- Experience working with a global payroll system or provider, ideally CloudPay.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for payroll processes.
- A problem-solving mindset and proactive approach to resolving issues.
- Excellent organisation and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and formulas.
