Viking Travel Care was launched in 2023 as a new service area for Viking Assistance Group. We are now planning a service expansion and will establish medical assistance services, including our own medical team. Thus, we are looking for contact doctors with experience from travel insurance alarm centers, to be responsible for assessing and following up medical cases.
Overall Job Description
The contact doctors will get medical cases assigned to them and then use their medical competence and industry experience to assess the medical treatment given by medical facilities to travelers. They shall provide advice and instructions to treatment facilities to ensure high quality, medical necessity, and urgency of the treatment. They will also make decisions about medical evacuations and medical transport.
Responsibilities
* Contact with treating hospitals and doctors all over the world
* Contact with patients and relatives
* Evaluation of medical information, writing medical assessments and transport orders
* Follow up assigned cases according to SLA’s and SOP’s and ensuring high quality and customer satisfaction
* Support the Operations staff in questions regarding cases
* Take a proactive approach and contribute to ensure efficient progress in cases
* Give feedback regarding complaints
Qualifications
* Qualified medical doctor specialized in anesthesiology, orthopedics, surgery, aviation medicine, internal medicine, cardiology or general medicine is preferred, but other specialization can also be relevant.
* Broad experience in travel assistance medical cases, i.e. travel insurance; emergency cases, surgical procedures, travel medicine, aviation medicine.
* Clinically active within the last 5 years.
* Fluent in Norwegian, Finnish, Danish or Swedish, and proficiency in written and spoken English. Additional languages e.g. Spanish, Greek, Turkish, Italian or other, is a plus.
* Empathic and service minded
* A team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Proactive and structured, with high quality focus

* One of our locations in Spain (Torrevieja or Fuengirola)
Employment type
* Consultant, with monthly invoicing to Viking Travel Care
* Part-time with possibility to combine with clinical work.
