Overview An Indian subsidiary of Amazon.com, a US based MNC in the payments business, has an opening for the role of "Associate Corporate Counsel" with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in implementing privacy and data protection requirements, experience in technology law and providing related legal advisory. The position is based in Bangalore and is for a fixed term of 3 years. The ACC will report to a Corporate Counsel / Senior Corporate Counsel position. The Attorney will partner with cross functional legal team and their business operations clients to achieve operational excellence, advise on a range of issues to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including corporate secretarial compliance, drafting and negotiating contracts. The attorney will also be responsible for project management and documentation of various ongoing privacy initiatives, including coordination with various internal teams, alignment with global teams, implementing various requirements. The role also involves close collaboration with business, product, technology, and legal teams. The Attorney must have excellent written and oral communication skills as this position involves direct contact with principal business owners.Responsibilities Providing ongoing legal counseling and advice on a wide range of legal areas, such as data privacy, technology law, company secretarial and regulatory compliance.Support development, review, and maintenance of privacy arrangements including data sharing agreements, privacy policies, notices, consent frameworks and internal SOPs.Monitor regulatory developments in data protection and assess their impact on the business.Provide privacy and data protection advice for new products, features, and business initiatives.Project management skills will be an added advantage.Ability to analyze and assess business processes, understand business requirements, draft scope of contracts, and function autonomously while communicating laterally and upwardly with ease.Strong legal and business judgment.Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset to effectively communicate and coordinate complex issues and projects with diverse levels of management and employees.Basic Qualifications 3+ years of legal experienceAssociate Member (ACS) with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) with a valid membershipLL.B.
