Stem Cell, Differentiation and Gene Editing Specialist in the Tissue Engineering Unit

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. CRG is supported by a versátil and efficient administration and high-end innovative technologies.

The desired candidate will provide services and participate in collaborative projects delivering patient derived organoids (PDOs), mouse and human pluripotent 2D (monolayer) and 3D (organoids) stem cell differentiation procedures. The candidate will also execute CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing services and set up specific 2D/3D differentiation and gene editing procedures upon user request for specific projects.

The candidate should be highly motivated, decisive, methodological, with accurate work habits and be a good team member. The ideal candidate has a strong ability to multi‑task and a service‑oriented mentality. The position involves working some weekends and holiday days during the year.

The Unit

The Tissue Engineering Unit is a scientific‑technological Core Technology Unit within the Core Technologies Program. Its goal is to provide CRG, PRBB and external researchers with the latest technologies for stem cell biology, stem cell differentiation, organoid formation, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing.

Professional Experience

At least 3 years of experience in stem cell biology and ES/iPS cell differentiation systems.

At least 1 year of experience in CRISPR/Cas9 or related gene editing systems.

Experience working in a Core Facility or Industry/Biotech/R&D; Facility.

Experience troubleshooting cell differentiation processes and assays (considered).

Experience with PDOs (considered).

Experience delivering projects on agreed schedules, budgets and quality standards (considered).

Education and Training

Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field.

Master’s or PhD degree considered a plus.

Languages

Fluent in English.

Proficient in Spanish.

Technical Skills Required

Strong tissue culture experience with human and mouse ES/iPS cells and PDOs.

Strong experience in ES cell differentiation.

Experience in cell line gene editing.

Experience with immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy and FACS analysis for cellular characterisations.
