Role Pitch
The Spanish Payroll Specialist is responsible for the entire payroll cycle and must guarantee full compliance with local regulations in labor, social security, and tax matters.
The ideal candidate is highly focused on data accuracy and results. Effective communication with clients and internal teams should be maintained according to internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all payroll activities in line with the monthly payroll calendar and submit payroll figures monthly, ensuring compliance with Spanish legislation.
* Collaborate with the Operations team to validate payroll inputs, ensuring sufficient and accurate information from clients.
* Reconcile pre-processing reports to ensure accuracy before processing payroll, validating data inputs in accordance with Spanish legislation.
* Research discrepancies and validate payroll outputs to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedures.
* Maintain payroll records and documentation for compliance and audit purposes.
* Analyze payroll information for accurate fund distribution.
* Support parallel testing runs for new requirements if needed.
* Prepare and upload monthly payroll reports to the CP platform.
* Manage communication with Social Security regarding registrations, terminations, amendments, leaves, etc., using SILTRA, CONTRAT@, CERTIFIC@, DELTA SYSTEM.
* Handle Social Security contributions and resolve related issues.
* Manage tax activities, including withholding taxes and submission of models 111, 216, 190, 296, and 345 to AEAT.
* Collaborate with the Implementation team to transfer new payroll setups successfully.
* Work with the Operations team to validate client payroll requirements for setup and configuration.
Attributes and Experience Required
* Extensive experience in end-to-end Spanish payroll processing.
* Expert knowledge of local legal requirements, statutory forms, and reporting.
* Experience with complex payroll scenarios (BIK, flexible retribution, stock options/RSU, non-residents).
* Strong communication skills in English and Spanish (minimum B2 level).
* Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Email Apps, Google Apps.
* Team-oriented with positive interaction skills.
* Decisive, proactive, and organized.
* Knowledge of Wolters Kluwer A3 and SUMAR software is advantageous.
* International payroll experience is a plus.
* Availability to work in the Barcelona office 3 times a month.
