The Senior Procurement Category Manager Marketing is responsible for leading the Global Marketing Procurement program and transforming Marketing spend from a fragmented, locally managed model into a structured, transparent, performance-driven global framework.
The role owns the strategic sourcing, governance, supplier optimization, and value creation agenda across global Marketing categories including Events & Exhibitions, Agencies (Creative/Media/Digital), Training & Education, Promotional Materials, Printing, Translations, Commercial digitalisation tools/applications and Marketing related professional services. The position partners with Global and Regional Marketing leadership to optimize CHF ~100M spend, deliver significant cost efficiencies, reduce supplier fragmentation, improve commercial terms and establish best practice standards.
Main Tasks And Responsibilities
Strategic Category Management
Lead in coordination with stakeholder the Marketing-Procurement program to optimise the global spend in the Marketing subcategories.
Develop and implement strategic plans for Marketing subcategories, aligning with overall organizational goals.
Analyse market best practices and trends, conduct spend analysis and identify opportunities for consolidation and cost efficiencies.
Supplier Optimization & Commercial Excellence
Supplier Relationship Management
Optimise supplier base, improve commercial terms, negotiate MSAs, implement RFP discipline.
Implement preferred supplier frameworks
Collaborate with suppliers to drive innovation, enhance service levels, and optimize costs.
Sourcing Strategy Execution
Follow strategic sourcing approach to maximize value delivery, considering total cost of ownership.
Lead competitive bidding processes, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with procurement policies.
Cost Optimization
Identify opportunities for cost reduction within Market subcategories.
Implement initiatives to optimize spending, improve efficiency, and achieve budgetary goals.
Contract Negotiation And Management
Lead contract negotiations for indirect subcategories, liaising with Legal ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
Ensure that contractual agreements align with Straumann’s goals including ESG and compliance standards.
Risk Management
Assess and manage risks associated with the category, implementing strategies for mitigation.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and evaluate potential risks in the supply chain.
Stakeholder Management
Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
Facilitate clear communication between internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align category management activities with organizational objectives.

Profile
Preferred education: Master’s (or equivalent) in Marketing, Business/International Business, Economics, or Engineering; MBA preferred.
Language: English (excellent written and spoken), German is advantageous.
Experience
8-12 years in strategic procurement or category management.
Strong exposure to Marketing categories (Events, Agencies, Media, Print, Digital/Software solutions, etc.).
Proven track record leading global negotiations.
Strong financial acumen.
Experience implementing category governance frameworks.
Experience working in matrix global organizations.
