Executive Director, Clinical Operations Therapy Area Head (Neurology & Ophthalmology)**

This is what you will do:
The Senior Director, Clinical Operations Therapy Area Head will lead a clinical operations group across programs within the Neurology & Ophthalmology therapeutic areas to deliver assigned Phase II / III clinical trials with the highest quality in a timely and cost-effective manner, ensuring achievement of Corporate and Global Product Team (GPT) goals. They will strive to innovate and accelerate the delivery of our clinical programs in support of our 2030 ambition.
In addition, he/she will be a member of the Development Operations Leadership Team and as a senior leader will help create and execute the strategy for the Development Operations organization.
You will be responsible to:
* Deliver program oversight and leadership of clinical operations teams in assigned therapeutic area.
* Ensure clinical studies within the therapeutic area are executed as per plan, within timelines, quality, and budget.
* Actively participate in strategic planning activities within the GPT, translating strategic decisions into operational plans and delivery.
* Partner with Country Operations to ensure the successful delivery of clinical trials in both insourced and outsourced models.
* Provide oversight and manage the performance of Contract Research Organizations (CRO) and other external vendors involved in assigned clinical trials as required.
* Establish and maintain excellent external relationships with investigators, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and other external stakeholders.
* Ensure alignment and collaboration with key internal stakeholders.
* Manage performance and development of direct reports.
You will need to have:
* 15+ years of clinical operations experience including the development and management of clinical studies. Experience in rare diseases considered a plus.
* 10+ years experience in building and leading high performing teams.
* Extensive experience in managing clinical trials in an insourced and outsourced environment. Vendor oversight experience required.
* Proven excellence in developing and executing operational strategy and demonstrated performance in the execution of clinical trials across all phases
* Ability to influence without direct authority, work in a matrix environment and develop constructive, collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Financial acumen and experience with financial oversight of a global clinical development program is desirable.
* Bachelor’s level degree or higher education required.
* The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
We would prefer for you to have:
* Advanced degree (MSc., PhD, MD) is highly desirable
