Our client, a leading international company in the industrial sector operating throughout Europe, is currently looking for a Chief Accountant/Senior Accountant in Barcelona. In this key role, you will be the focal point for finance & accounting activities in the country.
Your responsibilities:
* Lead Month-End Close (MEC) activities and the preparation & submission of local Spanish statements.
* Ensure and manage the relationships with outsource Tax service providers.
* Manage the annual closing process and financial audit.
* Supervise a small accounting team.
* Reconcile General Ledger (GL), subsidiary ledger, and intercompany settlements to ensure accurate financial records & compliance.
* Continuously identify process improvements and implement best practices (including automation solutions and new tools/systems to enhance efficiency of external reporting).
Your profile:
* Deep technical accounting knowledge of Spanish GAAP.
* Minimum 4 years of experience as a Chief Accountant, Senior Accountant or Independent Accountant.
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* Proven ability to learn quickly, work independently, and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
* Fluent English is a must.
* Experience with MS Excel and MS Dynamics is an advantage.
