We are hiring a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at the Carlos Simon Foundation.Are you an experienced bioinformatician passionate about impacting patients' lives worldwide? At the Carlos Simon Foundation, we are at the forefront of scientific discovery in reproductive medicine and women’s health.As a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist, you will be a key member of the Bioinformatics & Biostatistics team. Your responsibilities will include supervising junior staff, leading bioinformatics analyses of NGS and other omics data, developing novel analytical methods, and shaping the strategy for omics data management within the Foundation.Key Responsibilities:
Lead complex analyses of human NGS datasets.Collaborate with biologists, biostatisticians, and lab technicians.Ensure high-quality and impactful study results.Supervise and train junior bioinformaticians.Develop new bioinformatics methodologies.Support dissemination of data analysis results and assist researchers in publications.Required Skills and Experience:
PhD in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field;
or MSc with 3+ years ofindustry experience.Experience in data analysis, management, and visualization in areas like RNA/DNA NGS, single-cell transcriptomics, epigenomics, metagenomics.Proficiency in modern NGS bioinformatics tools (bulk- and scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, Spatial Transcriptomics).Knowledge of key bioinformatics algorithms and tools.Fluent in R, Bioconductor, RMarkdown, and related tools.Experience with Linux and cloud HPC environments, shell scripting, and command line tools.Strong understanding of molecular and cell biology.Solid foundation in biostatistics, data science, and machine learning.Additional Requirements:
Experience supervising team members.Experience developing reproducible pipelines with Snakemake or Nextflow.Knowledge of software development practices;
git is a plus.Ability to communicate complex bioinformatics concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Experience with Python (Pandas, NumPy) or lower-level languages (Rust, C++, Java).Ability to understand scientific challenges and break down problems.Strong project management and prioritization skills.Excellent communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.Ability to work collaboratively and propose innovative ideas.What We Offer:
