Description
In the paper making process, the optimization of the chemicals that are added to the pulp is key in terms of cost reduction while keeping the quality of the paper. This position will be related to this optimization process in Saica Paper Mills.
In the corrugated board manufacturing, the chemicals are introduced in the corrugator as first step in the process. Optimising this process may be crucial in terms of cost and quality. This position will also be related to this process in Saica Pack plants.
To know and analyse, at laboratory level, the chemicals in the processes and contact the different suppliers to gather technical information will be included in this position.
As a result, the collaboration between RDi and the Purchase department in terms of chemicals purchases is intense and this position will act as an advisor.
Scope: Research, Development and Innovation projects at R+D+i Group department at El Burgo de Ebro and Saica Paper and Saica Pack sites with some trips of a few days when necessary.
Activities
* In general, RDi projects activities that involve laboratory level work at the RDi central laboratory at El Burgo de Ebro, as well as work at Saica Paper and Pack sites.
* Carrying out laboratory activities including the planning of the test programmes with different analytical tests, the analysis of the data and drawing conclusions thereafter.
* The preparation and support of trials at pilot and industrial scale.
* Activities related to collaboration with suppliers such as technical meetings and trials preparation and assistance.
* Reporting all activities and preparing specific presentations and reports.
* The identification and management of internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
* Mandatory: Engineer (paper, chemistry)
* Optional: Chemist / Engineer (other)
EXPERIENCE: 3 years (min).
Optional
* Preferable experience in Chemical products support (paper & board); R&D or in Paper Production.
* Experience in the research and development of chemical products across various industries, with valued experience in the paper industry.
* Proven track record in designing and conducting experiments, analysing data, and optimising chemical formulations (such as coatings, additives, resin …).
* Experience in collaborating with cross‑functional teams to develop and implement innovative chemical solutions.
* Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards related to the development and use of chemical products.
