I'm currently supporting a leading integral PV and Energy Storage (ESS) manufacturer in the search for a Business Development Lead to drive the growth of their Commercial & Industrial (C&I;) solar business in Europe
About the Role
We are seeking a highly connected and entrepreneurial Business Development Lead to drive the growth of our Commercial & Industrial (C&I;) solar business in Spain.
The primary objective of this role is to establish and expand strategic partnerships with leasing companies, financial institutions, ESCOs, energy service providers, and commercial channel partners to accelerate the adoption of turnkey photovoltaic (PV) solutions for commercial and industrial customers.
This position combines strategic partnership development, market expansion, and commercial leadership, making it ideal for a professional with a strong network in the Spanish renewable energy and financing ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership Development
Identify, develop, and manage partnerships with leasing companies, financial institutions, ESCOs, energy retailers, and other financing partners.
Structure commercial cooperation agreements that facilitate customer access to solar solutions through leasing, PPA, Energy-as-a-Service, and other financing models.
Build a sustainable partner ecosystem that generates qualified project opportunities.
Business Development
Develop and execute the company's growth strategy for the Spanish C&I; solar market.
Identify and secure new commercial opportunities through direct customer engagement and partner channels.
Establish relationships with industrial, logistics, manufacturing, retail, and commercial property stakeholders.
Create and maintain a robust sales pipeline of C&I; solar projects.
Market Expansion
Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments affecting the Spanish solar market.
Identify emerging opportunities within distributed generation, self-consumption, energy efficiency, and energy services.
Support the development of innovative commercial models to increase market penetration.
Solution Structuring
Work closely with engineering, project development, and finance teams to create compelling turnkey solar solutions.
Support the preparation of commercial proposals, financial models, and business cases.
Ensure alignment between customer requirements and project feasibility.
Stakeholder Management
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade fairs.
Build relationships with industry associations, chambers of commerce, financial institutions, and key market influencers.
Act as a trusted advisor to partners and customers.
Reporting & Performance
Deliver accurate sales forecasts and partnership pipeline reports.
Monitor KPIs related to partner-generated opportunities and project conversion rates.
Provide regular market intelligence and strategic recommendations to management.
Requirements
Experience
5+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, project development, or commercial roles within renewable energy, solar PV, energy services, or infrastructure financing.
Demonstrated experience working with leasing companies, ESCOs, financial institutions, or structured energy financing solutions.
Strong understanding of the Spanish C&I; solar market.
Experience selling or developing turnkey solar, self-consumption, energy efficiency, or distributed energy projects.

Existing relationships with:
Leasing companies

Commercial finance providers
Energy retailers
EPC companies
Industrial and commercial energy users
Skills
Strong negotiation and partnership development capabilities.
Excellent commercial acumen and financial understanding.
Ability to structure complex commercial agreements.
Entrepreneurial and self-driven mindset.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Energy, Finance, or a related field.
Languages
Native or fluent Spanish.
Professional English proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with solar leasing, PPA, Energy-as-a-Service, or asset financing structures.
Knowledge of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and energy management solutions.
Experience working in fast-growing renewable energy companies or project developers. xhfqzwm
