Responsibilities
* Own major features and collaborate closely with design to deliver high‑quality, user‑centric updates.
* Shape the future of Android at Speechify by driving strategy, building new systems, and setting technical direction.
* Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features, monitor performance, and troubleshoot critical issues.
* Review pull requests and mentor teammates across product, design, and engineering.
* Handle urgent bugs and unexpected challenges while improving the codebase beyond the spec.
* Coordinate feature releases and provide nightly builds for the QA team.
Qualifications
* 5+ years of software engineering experience.
* Deep familiarity with Android components and at least one production Android app.
* Product design intuition and strong user empathy.
* Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests.
* Expertise with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Jetpack Navigation, and Jetpack Compose.
* Background in Android animations, custom views, Canvas, and background services.
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
* Self‑driven and proactive in improving the app and codebase.
