The research group "Impact and prevention of mental disorders", led by Dr Josep Maria Haro, is seeking a highly motivated Research assistant to join the “MigraSalud: Health and Well-Being in the Migration Process” research line, led by Dr. Paula Cristóbal Narváez.
During the migration process, changes and factors along the journey can affect people’s physical, mental, and social health. Within the MigraSalud research line, we aim to develop tools to help improve this situation. Our research line features a project focused on understanding the impact of migration on young people’s mental health. We have gathered valuable data using an app developed by our group, engaging young migrants to better capture the key factors influencing well-being.
The team also takes part in the European project EmpowerYouth, whose main objective is to combat racism, Islamophobia, and all forms of discrimination by creating spaces for awareness-raising and co-creation with Muslim youth and/or those perceived as such. We have also recently been awarded a European project, TRATU-ON, whose aim is to prevent and combat violence against children and adolescents by strengthening protection policies through a collaborative, multi-sector approach. It will identify needs, test training and support tools through pilot actions, and validate results so they can be applied in other contexts.
The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing and new research projects within the research line and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. The candidate will collaborate on the “Nature-Based Therapies for the Promotion of Emotional Well-Being” research line, led by Dr. Paula Cristóbal Narváez, participating in project development, evaluation, and multidisciplinary teamwork to generate scientific evidence and advance innovative approaches such as nature-based therapies.
The selected candidate will be expected to pursue a PhD within the research line.
Key responsibilities
* Support co-creation processes and data collection
* Support the preparation of manuscripts and other dissemination activities (seminars, conferences, etc.)
* Collaborate with internal and external partners, including clinicians, researchers, and stakeholders
Requirements
* Holding a Master’s degree in a health-related discipline (Psychology, Medicine, Public Health, etc), social science or a closely related subject relevant to the project study, is a requisite.
* Knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.
* English and Spanish (Written and Spoken), knowledge on Catalan will be evaluated positively.
* Arabic or Urdu will be also evaluated positively.
* Relevant experience of research in the field of the study; i.e.: experience in international projects, published manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals; would be considered as a plus.
What we offer
* Full time contract (37.5 hours) with a trial period of 4 months.
* Annual salary will vary depending on the candidate's experience.
