Offer Description
* Analyze economic models that allow city councils to evaluate the costs and benefits of investing in actions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions of the city.
* Develop and improve the structure of the main economic model used in NetZeroCities using modelling hypotheses and data collected in cities.
* Participate in the development of financial models for the implementation of decarbonization projects in European mission cities.
* Support NZC cities in building their strategic plans for decarbonization and the financial analysis required to procure funding and financing for those plans.
* Support NetZeroCities partners to integrate lessons learned from the development of the economic modelling process into the broader process of cities\' investment planning towards climate neutrality.
* Contribute to capacity-building programs to train a greater number of city officials and other actors in the use economic and financial models, through the writing of user guides and participation in webinars, among others.
* Evaluate city performance in relation to their documented Climate Neutrality Action Plans and Investment Plans, and help cities adjust over time to meet their decarbonization goals.
* Participate in and organize weekly alignment meetings with various consortium partners, keeping track of partner contributions.
* Participate in the implementation of the "Capital Hub" and collaborate with the "City Finance Specialist" for Spain and Portugal of NetZeroCities.
* Collaborate with the Spanish platform citiES 2030 in the economic modelling and implementation of financial instruments in Spanish cities.

Specific Requirements
* Minimum requirements for the requested profile :
* Proficiency in Spanish and English.
* Postgraduate in sustainability.
* Experience in finance and / or accounting-related projects.
* Advanced Excel skills.
* Proficient in complex economic modeling.
* Extensive knowledge of ecological and social sustainability in the context of cities / urbanism.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas concisely.
* Understanding of systemic thinking and the complexity of urban systems and sustainable transitions.
Desirable requirements
* Experience working with the public sector or local city administrations.
* Experience in European Union projects.
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment, connecting stakeholders from various sectors (public, private, third sector, academia) and domains.
* Knowledge of software development (to convert Excel sheets into interactive web interfaces).
* High proficiency in Excel.
* High proficiency in the use of complex economic and financial modelling.

Responsible person for strategic and financial analysis of the NetZeroCities (NZC) project at UPM. The project is an initiative launched as part of the European Green Deal and directly supports the European Commission\'s Mission for 100 Climate Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030. NZC is being implemented by a consortium of 33 members comprising diverse partners from across Europe, currently supporting 112 cities included in the Mission to achieve decarbonisation targets.
