Amazon is currently looking to hire an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team as Senior Technical Infrastructure Program Manager (TIPM), playing a pivotal role in leading design, facility, and engineering activities within Amazon's Fulfillment Network across Europe. This role will be based in Luxembourg, Spain or the UK, with periodic travel required. Reporting directly to the EU Head of Global Realty Building Design and Engineering, based in Luxembourg, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and cross‐functionally managing multifaceted mechanical engineering programs aimed at optimizing and enhancing the efficiency of both existing and new facilities. You will be our Subject Matter Expert for mechanical systems, supporting MEP solutions for prototype templates and working with other Global Realty teams such as Sustainability and RME, and Execution teams including Preconstruction and Construction. Collaboration with various stakeholders will be essential to drive the development and management of mechanical design specifications and support the Enterprise Building Automation System being deployed across the worldwide network. Key Responsibilities Define, document, communicate and own mechanical and plumbing engineering design standards. Maintain basis of design (BOD) for mechanical and plumbing disciplines. Track key metrics and performance. Function as consulting SME to stakeholders. Build business cases and market building improvements. Work across the industry to understand trends and develop scalable technologies. Support the implementation of processes and programs that drive cost optimization in building operations. Lead and support pilot projects to test innovative mechanical solutions. Own prototype equipment specifications and approve non‐prototype equipment. Develop and execute technical goals related to mechanical and plumbing cost reduction, continuous improvement, and sustainability. Develop, cultivate, and manage relationships with third‐party engineering consultants; track and manage quality and cost of consultant work product. Work cross‐functionally with other Amazon physical retail business groups to share and develop best practices and lessons learned. Maintain commissioning standards in partnership with internal Maintenance teams. Manage projects and influence and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors. About the Team Global Realty Building Design & Engineering (GRBD&E) is the centralized Architectural and Engineering subject matter expert for Global Customer Fulfillment (GCF), Amazon Transportation Services (ATS), and Global Delivery Services (GDS). The primary functions of GBD are to create and maintain facility design templates, criteria, and guidelines, and centralize facility construction standards, and global design references for output of frugality and the highest standards for those templates. The team creates value for the Operations Network by aggregating business and cross‐functional requirements to drive cost control, operational functionality efficiency, consistency, and safety to facilitate rapid decision making. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience in the field of engineering in commercial/retail buildings. Knowledge of Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Refrigeration Codes. Ability to manage high‐level meetings and discussions with technical and non‐technical participants. Strong project management experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads. Strong organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Industrial design experience. Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Revit design experience. Knowledge of current sustainability trends and practices. Experience in use of CFD tools. Work experience within field execution, i.e. with General Contractors. Project management certification (PMP or equivalent). Construction contract and designer contract legal experience, Blue Book, FIDIC, Code law contracts. Cost Management or Quantity Surveying experience. Professional fluency in English and speaking of other EU language(s).
