VHIR offers a vacancy for a PhD researcher to be involved in the synthesis and functional characterization of biodegradable and thermoresponsive hydrogels loaded with nanoparticles for the local and sustained multi-therapy of Ovarian Cancer, under the supervision of the doctors Diana Rafael and Fernanda Andrade at the Clinical Biochemistry, Drug Delivery& Therapy group from VHIR.
**Education and qualifications**:
**Required**:
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy or similar field of biosciences
- Master’s degree in the field of bioscience
- Fluency in English
**Desired**:
- Average grade of the student should be higher than 8 (both Bachelor and Master Degree)
- Languages: Fluency in Spanish, English (professional level)

**Experience and knowledge**:
**Required**:
- At least 1 year of experience in laboratory work
- Knowledge about the synthesis and characterization of polymers, hydrogels, nanoparticles, drug delivery, in vitro studies, cellular biology, molecular biology techniques, among others
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
**Desired**:
- A record of previous publications, conferences and other merits will be very valuable
- Knowledge about bioinformatic tools will be very valuable
- Excellent interpersonal skills and Teamwork
- Proactivity (ability to work independently when necessary)
- Well-organized and responsible person at work
**Main responsibilities and duties**:
- Development of a PhD thesis associated to awarded projects in hydrogels and drug delivery.
- Synthesis, characterization and handling of different types of drug delivery materials (hydrogels and nanoparticles).
- Analysis, writing and presentation of results.
- Administrative and laboratory management duties.
**Labour conditions**:
- Full-time position: 40h/week
- Starting date: February 2025
- Gross annual salary: 18.180,41 € euros (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
- Contract: Open-ended contract linked to the project SmarTheC (February 2025-December 2027)
