As a Field Services Engineer, you will perform all kinds of field service activities related to the Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) Product Line of GE Vernova.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
* After full product training, install, maintain, and perform services on substation monitoring equipment ( ).
* Work mainly outside in substations and power generation stations, including offshore wind platforms.
* Travel predominantly Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends required.
* Provide timely, accurate, and professional reports externally and internally.
* Ensure on-site repair and modifications comply with GE Vernova standards.
* Serve as a primary technical resource on-site and lead in resolving engineering and product issues.
* Ensure installation and repair work are efficient and of high quality.
* Make autonomous decisions within a defined framework, consulting senior team members for complex issues.
* Communicate effectively with the Service Leader, Product Management, Service Team, Customers, Channels, OEMs, and Sales Team.
* Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote safety practices.
* Provide technical guidance to staff and channels performing work on customer sites.
* Communicate schedule details, manpower needs, quality issues, and equipment requirements.
* Understand key business drivers and how team efforts contribute to broader goals.
* Travel extensively within the EU (minimum 70%), primarily in Southern Europe, with potential travel to other European countries. When not traveling, work from home.
* Hold an EU work permit.
* Apply best practices and understand market differentiation factors.
* Use judgment and propose solutions for complex manufacturing processes, utilizing technical experience and analytical skills.
* Mentor less experienced colleagues and lead small projects with low risk.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering, Controls & Instrumentation.
* Prior field service experience.
* Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
* Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong influencing skills.
* Flexible and willing to travel.
* Ability to work independently.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Team-oriented.
Desired Characteristics
* Experience in substation environments.
* Experience with Kelman DGA equipment is advantageous.
* Strong documentation and planning skills.
* Offshore training or GWO certificates are a plus.
* Experience with power transformer monitoring equipment.
* Fluency in another European language.
