JOB DESCRIPTION
The SatCen is seeking suitable candidates to establish a reserve list for the position of System Support Officer to Frontex. The System Support Officer to Frontex will be responsible, amongst others, for the following duties:
* Oversee daily IT operations, ensuring smooth functionality of systems, networks, and software.
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to staff for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
* Monitor system performance, conduct regular maintenance, and implement necessary updates.
* Manage IT assets, including procurement, inventory, and lifecycle management.
* Collaborate with vendors and service providers for system enhancements and issue resolution.
* Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
* Support IT projects, including system upgrades, cloud migrations, and infrastructure improvements.
* Conduct user training sessions to enhance technical proficiency across the organization.
* Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, incidents, and resolutions.
* Performing additional duties as directed by the Head of Division.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Only applications meeting all essential selection criteria will be assessed. Essential:
* Level of education, preferably in the field of Computer science and in Informatics Systems or equivalent, which corresponds to completed university degree of at least four years attested by a diploma; or of at least three years attested by a diploma together with an additional year of relevant professional experience; or an amount of experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, preferably in the field of Computer science and in Informatics Systems, which enables the candidate to perform the tasks of the job proficiently and is considered by SatCen as equivalent;
* A minimum of 15 years professional experience on administers Windows Server OS, Active Directory and Group Policy.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
Essential:
* Proficient in installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022 and 2025; experienced with DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
* Skilled in user/group administration, OU design, permissions management, and domain controller operations.
* Expertise in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Windows client environments (Windows 10 / 11); experienced with Remote Desktop and imaging tools like WDS and MDT.
* Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, subnetting, and Windows-based network services; diagnosing and resolving network connectivity issues.
* Experienced with Windows Event Viewer, Performance Monitor, and backup solutions, proficient in disaster recovery planning.
* Proficient in Hyper-V administration and managing hybrid cloud environments with Microsoft Azure (Azure AD, Intune).
* Capable of managing patch cycles, server maintenance schedules, and multiple support requests with minimal downtime.
* Create detailed system documentation, change logs, and operational procedures.
* Effective at cross-functional teamwork, end-user support, and documenting IT procedures; committed to delivering responsive technical service.
Desirable:
* Proficiency in cybersecurity principles and data protection measures.
* Hands-on experience with BitLocker, firewall configurations, antivirus solutions, and implementing security best practices in line with industry compliance standards.
* Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation and system management.
* Certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) are a plus.
* Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration concepts.
* Familiarity with EU regulations and standards related to IT systems and data security, and awareness of classified working environment procedures desirable.
All essential and desirable criteria are evaluated so as to identify the most suitable candidates.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be considered eligible, candidates must satisfy all of the following eligibility criteria by the closing date for submitting applications:
* Level of education, preferably in the field of Computer science and in Informatics Systems or equivalent, which corresponds to completed university degree of at least four years attested by a diploma; or of at least three years attested by a diploma together with an additional year of relevant professional experience; or an amount of experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, preferably in the field of Computer science and in Informatics Systems, which enables the candidate to perform the tasks of the job proficiently and is considered by SatCen as equivalent;
* Be a national of one of the Member States of the Union and enjoy their full rights as citizen;
* Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws concerning military service;
* Produce evidence of a thorough knowledge of English (at least level B2 ), the working language of SatCen, and of a satisfactory knowledge of another official language of the EU to the extent necessary for the performance of their duties;
In addition, candidates must:
Hold a security clearance at least at the level of EU SECRET, or equivalent. In case the successful candidate is not in possession of such a clearance at the time of submitting an application, the SatCen will request it, and no appointment will be fully confirmed until the security clearance has been received by the competent national authority. In addition, and during the selection procedure, candidates will need to declare any particular circumstances which could be in conflict with the performance of their duties at SatCen.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Successful candidate(s) may be offered a contract as a temporary staff member in accordance with the SatCen Staff Regulations, for an initial period of 4 (four) years, renewable. Successful candidate(s) who will be offered a contract of employment will, on their entry into service, be placed in grade B6, and step 1, 2 or 3 depending on the length of their relevant professional experience. The basic monthly salaries in the different grades and steps of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale are published on the SatCen’s website. In addition to the basic monthly salary, the following benefits might apply:
* Additional specific allowances (e.g. expatriation (up to 18% of the salary), household, dependent child, education, installation), depending on the individual’s family situation and the place of origin;
