Job Summary:
The Senior Director & General Manager for Iberia (Spain & Portugal) is responsible for driving sales growth and delivering revenue and transaction margin targets across the full PayPal portfolio within the Iberian market. This senior leadership role requires a strategic, commercially oriented executive with a strong track record of building and scaling high performing teams, developing market specific growth strategies, and cultivating strong internal and external partnerships.
Reporting to the VP & Regional GM, Southern Europe, the Senior Director & GM for Iberia acts as the in-market leader representing PayPal across all core segments—Large Enterprise, SMB, and Consumer—while orchestrating cross-functional alignment to accelerate growth end-to-end.
Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities
Oversee operations across multiple functions within the division, business unit, country, region, or banking entity
Establish budgets and set short- and long-range objectives for the division/business unit/country/region
Develop criteria for monitoring progress and measuring success against financial and operational goals
Direct the organization to ensure the attainment of financial and operational goals in support of the company's overall strategic objectives
Develop and implement plans to advance the company's products and services to meet market demands
Collaborate with senior management to align financial plans and strategic initiatives
Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making
Provide leadership and guidance to functional managers and teams to drive performance and achieve objectives
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
Minimum Qualifications
12+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience

This role will lead Iberia's vertical leaders across sales, relationship management, account management, and inside sales, working closely with risk, operations, product development, marketing, engineering, global entity management, finance, HR, and legal to ensure the market operates with excellence, compliance, and a clear growth vision.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Market Execution
Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to deliver revenue and Transaction Margin goals across Spain and Portugal.
Drive growth across Enterprise, SMB, and Consumer segments, ensuring alignment between market needs and PayPal's product and service portfolio.
Identify, prioritize, and accelerate opportunities in key verticals relevant to the Iberian market (e.g., retail, travel, digital services, marketplaces).
Own the full sales cycle—from pipeline creation to contract negotiation and closing.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing commercial organization across Spain and Portugal.
Set clear objectives, KPIs, and operating rhythms, ensuring accountability and a performance-driven culture.
Build a collaborative, diverse, and innovative environment focused on continuous improvement.
Strategic Relationship Management
Establish and maintain senior-level relationships with strategic merchants, partners, regulators, industry associations, and key stakeholders across Iberia.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, deeply understanding their businesses and positioning PayPal's value proposition effectively.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless customer experiences and drive long-term adoption.
Market Intelligence, Insights & Reporting
Monitor competitive activity, industry evolution, and macroeconomic developments across Spain and Portugal.
Leverage market insights, data analytics, and customer feedback to refine strategies and unlock new growth opportunities.
Provide regular business reviews, accurate forecasts, and strategic recommendations to Southern Europe leadership.
Cross-functional Leadership & Enterprise Alignment
Partner with Marketing to design targeted campaigns and brand-building activities specific to the Iberian market.
Work closely with Product and Engineering to align Iberian customer needs with PayPal's product roadmap.
Ensure strong collaboration with Customer Success, Risk, Operations, and Compliance to maintain high satisfaction, operational efficiency, and regulatory alignment.
Job Qualifications
15+ years of commercial/sales leadership experience in technology, payments, financial services, or digital industries.
Strong understanding of digital payments, fintech, emerging technologies, and market trends relevant to Spain and Portugal.
Proven track record managing distributed, multicultural teams and leading in a matrixed global organization.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive presence, with the ability to represent PayPal at the highest levels.
Highly strategic, analytical, and data-driven decision-maker with strong commercial instincts.
Demonstrated ability to create collaborative, innovative cultures and lead through complexity and change.
Hands-on mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational execution.
Comfort managing ambiguity and pivoting as strategies evolve.
BA required; MBA and/or technical degree preferred.
Native-level Spanish and full professional proficiency in English; Portuguese is a strong plus.
