TSL is looking for an experienced MEP Quantity Surveyor with a strong technical background and an excellent command of English to join our team in Madrid and contribute to the delivery of some of Europe's most innovative and strategic data centre projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial and contractual management of projects, ensuring effective cost control from pre-construction through to final project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management and Control
* Monitor actual project expenditure against approved budgets throughout all phases of project execution.
* Analyse cost variances, identify risks and opportunities, and implement corrective actions to achieve financial objectives.
* Prepare regular cost reports, forecasts and final account projections.
Measurement and Valuation
* Produce accurate quantity take-offs from drawings, models and site visits.
* Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BoQs), valuations and progress certifications.
Tendering and Procurement
* Work closely with the Procurement and Preconstruction teams in the preparation of tender packages.
* Analyse and compare technical and commercial bids, supporting contractor selection and award processes.
Contract Management
* Assist in the preparation, review and administration of contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
* Manage variations, scope changes, claims and contractual matters throughout the project lifecycle.
Certifications and Payments
* Review and validate subcontractor progress applications and payments.
* Ensure full commercial and contractual traceability across all work packages.
Change Management
* Assess the commercial impact of design, scope and programme changes.
* Negotiate and agree cost adjustments with clients, consultants and contractors.
Stakeholder Management
* Act as a key interface between the client, project team and subcontractors, providing commercial, technical and contractual support to facilitate strategic decision-making.
Requirements
* Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Engineering or a related discipline.
* Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management within the construction industry.
* Proven experience managing MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) packages.
* Experience in quantity take-offs, BoQs, valuations, certifications and variation management.
* Strong understanding of construction contracts and subcontractor management.
* Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
* High level of English, both written and spoken.
* Experience working within international and multidisciplinary environments.
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and operate effectively in technically and commercially demanding projects.
