Job Summary :
South Pole is looking for a Technical Lead to strengthen its team in Europe and to play a key role in international consultancy assignments, proposals, commercial activities, and multistakeholder initiatives.
1. As a global sustainability solutions provider, South Pole works with clients in public and private sectors to build solutions for a sustainable society and economy.
2. The Policy and Strategy team handles public and private consultancy assignments for clients.
3. It provides policy and technology insights and market intelligence to various teams within the business lines.
4. Your goal as Technical Lead, Engineered Carbon Solutions will be to help deliver and refine South Pole’s offerings by providing technical advice on engineered carbon removal and reduction projects.
5. You will coordinate with relevant teams within South Pole and related institutions to provide support for carbon removal and technical advisory mandates, and offer technical opinions on internal project assessments for due diligence.
6. You will be a core member of the Engineered Carbon Solutions team, providing technical insights to assess the viability of carbon reduction and removal projects, and supporting project management and assessment of prospective projects for South Pole or NextGen operations.
7. Specifically, you will evaluate the technical feasibility of each project, identify potential risks that may undermine performance, assess the robustness and viability of quantification methodologies, and ensure alignment with existing carbon standards.
8. You will collaborate with South Pole Carbon Standard and Methodology experts to develop quantification approaches that meet carbon crediting standards.
Requirements :
The ideal candidate will possess broad engineering knowledge, especially related to technologies used to capture and permanently store CO2, including but not limited to: biochar, bioenergy with capture and storage, direct air capture, enhanced weathering, and permanent CO2 mineralization in durable products.
