Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Network Technician to join our growing team within infrastructure operations. You will work in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network.
In this role you will support capacity scaling across multiple data center locations, manage day‑to‑day capacity management tasks, and collaborate with internal customers and external vendors to ensure smooth project execution. You will also deliver support for Amazon Web Services’ extensive network infrastructure, establishing best practices, refining operational procedures, and troubleshooting complex network issues.
Key Responsibilities
* Build out first level router‑aggregates, build the console network for new rooms, and support network scaling projects
* Provide reasonable accommodations for any physical requirements
* Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects
* Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles
* Troubleshoot networking, routing and inter‑connectivity issues, including device configuration and low‑level application interaction
* Travel up to 60% within the geographical work area; additional travel outside traditional work area may be required, including internationally
* Troubleshoot cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords
* Specify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking is completed for new equipment
* Participate in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware
* Move and lift computer equipment up to 50 lbs
A Day in the Life
1. Track network rack intake and delivery, partner with onsite teams to request rack space, power, and cooling for network racks, and collaborate with network engineers to ensure all configurations are ready while troubleshooting within the agreed service‑level agreement.
2. Build console rooms and additional space for customer racks, working closely with cross‑team collaborations.
3. Work with ID‑Scaling peers to build higher‑level networking devices.
About the Team
The team is based in the Philadelphia region and expands across the Pennsylvania region, covering all sites inside and outside the perimeter. We are committed to scaling network and server capacity and collaborate with software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent, or advanced experience with networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related)
* 2+ years of data center experience
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)
* Experience in a 24x7 operational services or support environment
* Experience with Linux OS and network troubleshooting, or experience deploying, managing, and optimizing Microsoft Windows Server
* Knowledge of Unix/Linux/Cygwin/Windows
* Experience with distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
