Account director corporate & sports

Overview

The Account Director will work in the HWS Spain & Portugal team and be responsible for driving transient and group business into Hilton’s portfolio of hotels. The account director will manage several corporate and sports accounts to penetrate these segments, generate client requests and RFPs, support group business conversion, and organize client engagement activities to drive loyalty and product knowledge (including Business Review meetings, familiarization trips, Lunch and Learn, social events). The role also involves participating in relevant tradeshows representing Hilton. The Account Director is accountable for the performance of their key and strategic accounts and must proactively manage relationships with customers and internal stakeholders, including VPs, GMs, CDs, Hotel Managers, Peers & Account Teams. The role also requires business development skills with a strong focus on developing new partnerships.


Responsibilities


Planning Activities

* Develop and implement account plans aligned with Hilton’s commercial objectives to grow segment revenue from corporate, sports and group accounts.
* Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts and source new high-potential accounts.
* Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform proactive strategies.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on account priorities and objectives.
* Be accountable for the delivery of the strategy and activities of the sales function.
* Maintain a neutral approach across ownership and management groups to ensure a consistent approach to customer and team collaboration.


Organizing Activities

* Coordinate participation in trade shows, roadshows, and client events to maximize exposure and engagement.
* Support cross-functional collaboration with marketing, revenue management, operations and HWS teams.
* Develop account plans that specify objectives and sales activities to support the defined account strategy and ensure maximum opportunity for account penetration.
* Establish and develop long-term effective working relationships with key customers to drive business.
* Ensure all activities comply with Hilton’s governance protocols and brand standards.
* Maintain accurate account data in Salesforce and other systems to support reporting and performance tracking.


Directing Activities

* Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring exceptional client service.
* Provide clear communication of Hilton’s value proposition and brand portfolio to clients.
* Lead client meetings, presentations, and negotiations to develop business.
* Represent Hilton at industry events and networking opportunities to strengthen relationships and brand presence.
* Provide direction to team members and establish work priorities to achieve management objectives for account portfolio.
* Execute organizational directives and achievement of goals through motivation, communication and leadership.


Controlling Activities

* Adjust account strategies as needed to achieve revenue and market share goals.
* Track account performance against agreed targets and KPIs, providing regular updates to leadership.
* Analyze ROI for trade shows, events, and account initiatives to optimize resource allocation.
* Ensure compliance with Hilton Best Practices for account management and reporting.


Supportive Functions

In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions as needed by the business:

* Assist with new hotel openings by aligning corporate and sports account strategies with launch objectives.
* Participate in internal sales reviews and planning sessions to share insights and best practices.
* Perform additional duties as required to support Hilton’s corporate and sports segment growth.
* Support HWS teams with planned initiatives, as required.
* Communicate regularly with hotels to ensure productive and effective collaboration and share ‘Customer value’.


Qualifications


Required Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
* Significant experience in proactive sales roles within the corporate and sports segment – transient and group.
* Proven success working in multicultural and international environments.
* Fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English.
* Proficiency in Salesforce or other CRM tools.


Preferred Qualifications

* Advanced degree in business, hospitality, or related discipline.
* Additional language skills are a plus.
* Hospitality industry experience, with established relationships with corporate and sports accounts based in the region.
