The Warehouse / Logistics Assistant coordinates and executes warehouse and logistics activities, ensuring operational management of logistical providers and internal staff (e.g., warehouse staff, drivers) in line with specifications, orders, and safety policies. The role supports the safe, efficient, and effective storage and flow of materials and equipment to bolster the OpCo’s production, warehousing, and distribution objectives.
This position primarily offers administrative support and execution within Logistics / Supply Chain, focusing on warehousing functions, outbound transport, or a combination of both. The role typically reports to the Warehouse & Logistics Manager, Warehouse Manager, or Transport / Logistics Manager, with the specific focus depending on the size and structure of the logistics operation. Larger operations tend to have specialized roles, while smaller ones require the assistant to handle multiple tasks, possibly including forklift operation.
Responsibilities include:
* Inventory Management & Stock Control: Reordering materials, maintaining stock records, monitoring supplier performance, and managing materials to ensure availability and identify bottlenecks.
* Inbound Goods and Storage: Coordinating the receipt, inspection, labeling, and storage of incoming materials, ensuring quality and completeness for efficient distribution.
* Order Handling: Processing customer orders, packing, and distributing materials accurately and timely.
* Outbound Goods and Transport Planning: Preparing goods for dispatch, scheduling transportation, and ensuring efficient routing and delivery.
* Systems and Administration: Recording logistics activities, managing master data, and generating reports to maintain up-to-date records and support internal accounting.
* Customer Satisfaction: Managing customer relationships and handling requests to maintain confidence and positive feedback.
* Continuous Improvement: Monitoring and improving logistics processes, tools, and systems for ongoing optimization.
* Compliance: Ensuring adherence to safety, quality, risk, and health regulations.
* Other Duties: Performing additional warehouse/logistics support and project tasks as assigned.
