About the job
For our Automotive division in Azuqueca de Henares (SPAIN) we are looking for a EHS Plant Manager (F/M/X/D) to join permanently our team.
Job purpose
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager Azuqueca and in dotted line to the EHS Business Manager Automotive & Group EHS Director, the EHS Manager's primary responsibilities are to promote a safe working environment for the employees and the meeting of all legal requirements for EHS issues. This includes a careful documentation of the measures put in place and the regular reporting of this documentation to managers and legal authorities.
Specific responsibilities and authorities:
•Establish the framework for the EHS program.
•Engage with line management in developing, implementing and sustaining the program.
•Managing all requirements of the EHS Management System.
•Monthly/quarterly/bi-annual/annual reports (to Exide and to local authorities).
•Preparation & coordination of audits.
•Conduct incident investigations and follow-ups.
•Review Corrective Action Plans (CAP), follow-up CAP closures and organize follow-up audits.
•Plant inspections, assessment of EHS conditions.
•Organize and execute training.
•Maintain EHS technical competency through continuing education.
•Coordination & verification of legal compliance.
•Meetings with external companies, suppliers and local authorities.
•Support the Operations Team and Regional EHS Team on EHS related issues.
•Occasional demands from Exide, local authorities, suppliers and customers.
What you bring:
- Academic degree in industrial, chemical or environmental engineering or an equivalent education; specific training in management systems.
- At least 5 years in a similar position in a multinational company, specifically leading an EHS department in an industrial environment and manufacturing plant.
- Team leading experience with setting high goals and expectations, guiding others towards the most important objectives, conveying a vision so that it is tangible and actionable to others and consistently restating and reinforcing the strategic direction.
- Understands EHS management systems; knowledge of assurance review process and rating system; ability to coordinate, facilitate implementation and/or maintain management systems; ability to assess the effectiveness of management system implementation; knowledge of other management systems such as ISO 14000, ISO 45000 knowledge of how to conduct audits and inspections and recommend solutions for corrective action.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and corporate/business unit standards (local and/or global); knowledge of how to find and keep current with regulations and standards (internal and external); ability to interpret laws and regulations; ability to apply laws and regulations appropriately; ability to offer recommendations regarding the development of/changes to laws and regulations; ability to assess effectiveness of compliance program.
- Ability to assess training needs; ability to develop and/or deliver training; ability to assess the effectiveness of training; knowledge of internal and regulatory training requirements.
- Proven skills in effective verbal and written communication internally and externally to ensure alignment and understanding for EHS projects in the team and throughout other departments participating in the projects; actively shares ideas even though they might be challenged; looks at arguments from both sides of an issue.
- English B2 level (fluent speaking).
