Procurement Business Partner, ACE Markets :
Spain, Portugal & Nordic Markets
Gilead Sciences, Inc. is a research-based biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering life-saving therapies across areas including HIV, viral diseases, liver diseases, hematology, oncology and inflammation. This role sits within Gilead’s Global Procurement Organization (GPO) and partners with stakeholders across Gilead’s organization to deliver value by shaping supplier strategies and relationships for indirect procurement spend in ACE markets.
The role primarily partners with key stakeholders in Gilead’s Iberian Affiliate (Spain & Portugal) and may provide sourcing support to additional smaller markets (e.G., Sweden) as needed. It involves developing and implementing global and local procurement strategies, optimizing spend with local suppliers, and driving value and efficiency for the markets supported.
Responsibilities
* Act as a strategic thought partner to the stakeholders and markets supported by this role.
* Annually identify a pipeline of opportunities to optimize spend with suppliers;
engage early with Affiliate teams to review planned spend and align on priorities.
* Deliver 5-10% cost improvement year-on-year (cost reduction or cost avoidance) by implementing both global and local sourcing strategies.
* Partner with Global Category Managers to develop global category strategies (including capturing local requirements) and drive stakeholder adherence to these strategies.
* Identify preferred suppliers for key categories in close collaboration with Affiliate stakeholders and Global Category Managers.
* Develop sourcing strategies for locally managed spend in collaboration with Affiliate stakeholders;
maintain a holistic view of Affiliate demand and supply options.
* Conduct RFPs, negotiate price and contract terms to implement agreed sourcing strategies for locally managed spend.
* Determine stakeholder satisfaction with key vendors and support performance improvement opportunities.
* Provide regular updates on delivery to GPO and senior Affiliate leaders;
proactively highlight issues that require awareness or attention.
* Promote stakeholder adoption of standardized procurement processes;
inspire stakeholders torealize the value of good sourcing practices.
* Participate in Procurement Team meetings to learn about GPO goals, processes and best practices.
Reporting Line :
This role is part of a team within GPO that partners with teams located at one or more Gilead Sales & Marketing offices within Europe, Australia or Canada (ACE markets). This role reports into the Procurement Director for ACE markets.
Experience Requirements
* 10+ years of professional work experience plus a BS/BA (or the equivalent), or 8+ years with an MA/MS or MBA (or the equivalent) in a corporate environment.
* Experience in the Pharmaceutical/Healthcare industry is desirable but not essential.
* Fluency in English and Spanish is required;
ability to speak Portuguese is desirable but not a requirement.
* Extensive RFP, negotiation and contract management experience.
* Experience managing and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
* Experience in cross-functional collaboration;
experience working withMarketing or Medical teams is advantageous but not essential.
* Able to demonstrate effective business partnering capabilities with strong organizational skills.
