About this role
The Jotelulu Product team is looking for an experienced Senior AI Specialist Engineer to join our customer-facing software team, support our growing engineering team, and scale our codebase from thousands to millions of users. You will join a full-stack development team that creates self-service, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) at a cloud provider scale, integrating GenAI, Agents, and RAG pipelines directly into the customer experience. We are scaling our catalog of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services and need experienced developers to help us scale our codebase and achieve our goals. You'll be part of a fun, fast-paced, collaborative, and agile team.
This is a hybrid role based in Spain, our office is in Madrid (Plaza España). Our ideal candidate excels at working with complex codebases, takes initiative, and delivers solutions to customer challenges while promoting a strong team culture. You will address complex issues by building trust through reliable data, working closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team.The Jotelulu Product team designs, plans, delivers, and maintains all customer-facing products. We help partners purchase our cloud products (servers, remote desktops, cloud storage, etc.) and collaborate across Jotelulu to deliver impactful features while ensuring code stability and security. You will
* Write clean, highly maintainable, and well-tested code (primarily Python) to create high-performance APIs.

* Design and implement scalable, high-performance APIs and MCPs that can handle high traffic.
* Integrate generative Artificial Intelligence capabilities (OpenAI, Google GenAI) into our cloud products and services using vector databases and AI Frameworks (HayStack, Langchain).
* Build recommendation systems and predictive models that enhance customer experience and product usage.
* Design and implement scalable AI and data architectures, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and AI Agents bridging our core cloud platform with modern AI capabilities.
* Design and build AI agents for internal automation and customer-facing support.
* Tackle complex technical challenges with creative, practical solutions.
* Investigate, reproduce, and resolve issues reported by users and internal teams.
* Set clear goals, track your progress, and communicate status regularly to stakeholders.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering practices, tooling, and platform.
What We Are Looking For
Basic qualifications
* 5+ years of software development experience with Python frameworks (FastAPI, Django, Flask).
* Solid experience working with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL and vector databases.
* Experience with asynchronous architectures, job queues, caching and background processes (NATs, RabbitMQ, Redis).
* Experience working in an agile environment, using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, GitLab..
* Comfortable working across the stack, connecting Python AI microservices with our core PHP application logic and frontend interfaces.
* Experience designing clean, modular abstraction layers for consuming AI services and MCPs.
* Experience partnering with product and/or program management teams to define requirements and deliver features.
* Strong knowledge of engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle of AI features, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build and deployment processes, automated testing, and running services in production.
Preferred qualifications
* Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements and clearly explain product features, technical designs and product strategy.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strong willingness to pair program, tackle critical issues and work closely with teammates to solve challenging problems.
* Deep technical experience in both public and private cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure, GCP, VMware, etc).
* Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development.
* Experience working with generative AI SDKs and APIs (e.g., Google GenAI, Amazon Bedrock / Amazon Gen AI, OpenAI).
* Knowledge of Prompt Engineering techniques (Chain-of-Thought, ReAct) and model evaluation.
* Experience designing, building, and operating AI agents, and integrating AI tools into production environments.
* Ability to design clean, well-structured, and maintainable APIs and abstraction layers to connect backend services with AI platforms.
* 2+ years of software development experience with PHP frameworks (Symfony).
* Experience with automation and workflow orchestration tools such as n8n or Zapier.
* Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices and tools.
